Dental Implants at David P. Babb DMD

Can Transform Your Life

A missing tooth or teeth does more than just have an effect on the appearance of your smile: it can have a tremendous impact on your oral and overall health, as well. The roots of a tooth not only hold it in place, but also provide vital signals to the bone tissue in your jaw, keeping it strong and healthy. When you lose a tooth, the lack of stimulation causes your jawbone to begin to deteriorate. As this atrophy continues, it can cause a whole host of issues as your surrounding teeth begin to shift. Left untreated, as your teeth shift further, your face will begin to appear sunken and aged beyond your years. Additional tooth loss will result if enough bone loss occurs, which only exacerbates further atrophy and tooth loss.

Fortunately, the titanium or ceramic posts of dental implants function as bionic tooth roots, providing the necessary signals to stop further bone loss and keep your jawbone healthy and strong. Dental implants from our Beaufort, SC, dentistry practice can restore both your appearance and your health. Whether you need to replace a single tooth or an entire dental arch, our dentist Dr. David Babb can help.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Permanent Solution

Implants are the only permanent solution to tooth loss that a dentist can offer. The titanium or ceramic posts replace lost tooth roots and in the process prevent further jawbone atrophy. Dental implants also offer unparalleled stability for restorations such as an implant-supported bridge, crown, or denture.

Why Choose Us for Full Mouth Reconstruction?

Am I a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?

The majority of patients are good candidates for dental implants. However, there are a number of factors that may impact your candidacy. If you are suffering from the ill effects of missing teeth, our dentist can evaluate your candidacy at our Beaufort, SC, dental office

Lack of Jawbone Density

If you have been missing teeth for an extended period, you may have low bone density in your jaw. If this is the case, a bone grafting procedure can restore your candidacy.

Tobacco Use

It is no secret that smoking is bad for your health. Since smoking inhibits your body’s ability to heal it increases your risk of implant failure. You will need to quit for several months before implant surgery.

Gum Disease

To provide a stable platform for the titanium or ceramic implant posts your gums need to be healthy. If you have periodontal disease you will need treatment before you can receive implants.

Other Health Concerns

Autoimmune disorders such as diabetes can increase risks during surgery and inhibit the healing process. Dr. Babb will review your medical history to ensure you are healthy enough to undergo implant surgery.

"Could Not Recommend Them More"

Great attitude and overwhelming understanding of dental science. Felt very comfortable and safe with their care. Could not recommend them more. Lucky to have them in our community.

What Are My Implant Options?

Depending on your individual needs, Dr. Babb can surgically place implants to support a single crown, a bridge, or a denture in order to restore your smile.

Missing One Tooth

Patients who are missing a single tooth can preserve the healthy surrounding teeth with an implant and dental crown.

Missing Several Teeth

If you are missing several consecutive teeth, an implant-retained bridge can restore form and function to your teeth.

Missing All Your Teeth

Individuals who are missing an entire arch of teeth may be candidates for implant-retained dentures .

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

Dental implants can last a lifetime with regular flossing, brushing and regular dental check ups usually every 6 months. However, a dental crowns or bridge often only last 10-15 years due to wear and tear.  They often need to be replaced.
